Chair:Ian Robertson

Ian Robertson is a corporate, media and regulatory lawyer who heads the media and entertainment practice of national law firm Holding Redlich. He is also the National Managing Partner of the firm. He became a partner of Holding Redlich in Melbourne in 1990 and established the firm's Sydney office in 1994. He is also the President of the Board of the Victorian Government screen agency, Film Victoria. His former appointments include Deputy Chair of the Australian Government screen agency, Screen Australia, board member of the Australian Broadcasting Authority, director and Chair of Ausfilm, director and Deputy Chair of Film Australia Limited, and director of the predecessor agency to Film Victoria, Cinemedia. Mr Robertson is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Frances Russell-Matthews

Frances Russell-Matthews is Head of Legal and Company Secretary for the Experian Credit Reporting Bureau, author and educator, admitted as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in March 1995 and as a Solicitor and Barrister in Victoria in 2001. A finalist in the 2011 Australian Corporate Lawyer of the Year, Frances' legal practice spans credit and consumer, privacy and competition law, intellectual property, financial services and regulation of financial products and data exchange, M&A activity and anti-money laundering laws. Frances has broad experience dealing with regulators including the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority, Australian Securities & Investments Commission, and Office Australian Information Commissioner. Ms. Russell-Matthews is also an author of fiction and non-fiction ( on law, ecology, linguistics, history, English literature and writing ). Her career in English education spans forty years and three Australian states, in primary, secondary independent and government schools (including as Dean of Studies and Head of English of the Launceston Church Grammar School), as an HSC setting and marking examiner and as a lecturer at the Tasmanian College of Advanced Education and NSW TAFE. She continues to tutor in English, History, Business and Legal Studies and to take a keen interest in the application of technological innovation in education.

Adrian Lawrence

Adrian Lawrence is a partner in Baker & McKenzie's Sydney office and a leading member of its Global Technology Group. Adrian regularly advises clients across the sector, from established technology companies, to financial services institutions and early stage disruptors. He advises on a range of issues relevant to the FinTech space, including on privacy and data utilisation, regulatory compliance, commercial partnerships and product creation and distribution. He is a regular speaker on technology, privacy and digital media issues including as a lecturer in the postgraduate program at the University of New South Wales.

Peter Leonard

Peter Leonard is a data and technology business lawyer. Peter was a founding partner of Gilbert + Tobin and he has worked as a legal and commercials adviser to global and Asia Pac data, communications and technology businesses for over thirty years. Following his retirement as a G+T partner in 2017 he continues to assist G+T as a consultant. Peter chairs the Australian IoT (Internet of Things) Alliance's Data Access, Use and Privacy work stream, the Law Society of New South Wales Privacy and Communications Committee and the Australian Computer Society's Artificial Intelligence Ethics Committee. He serves on a number of advisory boards, including the NSW Data Analytics Centre, and a number of boards of directors. He is a former global chair of the International Bar Association's Technology Committee, former global vice-chair of the IBA's Communications Committee and former director of iappANZ. He was voted by industry peers as Sydney Technology Lawyer of the Year 2016 and one of the global top 35 communications lawyers. He is rated top tier in Best Lawyers International in the categories of Commercial Law, Media and Entertainment Law, Information Technology Privacy, Data Security and Telecommunications. He is also an author of many articles in these areas and formerly editor of Communications Law and Policy in Australia, the leading Australian loose-leaf service in communications law.

Mansoor Syed

Mansoor Syed is a seasoned Information Security Professional with a proven ability to enhance profitability by improving the security posture, reducing risks, and limiting vulnerability. Adept at building & developing IT Security Strategies, Security Frameworks/Patterns, Governance & Managing Line 1/2 risks. Mansoor has years' experience working at two of the major financial institutions and in one of the big 4 firm. Prior to joining Kloud/Telstra, he held senior consultancy and specialist positions at these institutions. His contributions have been recognised by the leadership teams at every level. His responsibilities varied from security architecture design to information risk management and security operations management.
